Hacienda El Burgo is a wonderful hacienda in an ideal location, spacious yet cozy, in the Aljarafe area of Seville, 10 minutes from the capital. It was built and designed by Javier de Bethencourt in 1998.
All the materials used for its construction came from the demolition of old houses and convents: Arabic tiles, terracotta bricks, flagstones from Tarifa, wooden doors, wrought iron grilles, and chestnut beams.
These result in a modern house with the appearance of a century-old home.
It has a magnificent layout with several courtyards, each with its own personality.
The main courtyard, which is the entrance, serves as a work yard and houses the stables, the tack room, and also the chapel. It combines simplicity and tradition, from which the grandeur of the place emanates.
Next, a more "reserved," more intimate courtyard leads into the house. It is paved and features a fountain and four cypress trees that welcome guests.
The third courtyard houses the parking lot (for seven cars), a storage room, and two caretakers' quarters.
The house has a simple layout: entrance hall, living room, large, bright living room with a fireplace (southwest facing), kitchen, office, family bedrooms, and service area. From here, you access a large porch overlooking the garden. In total, the main house has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a guest toilet. Upstairs, in the turret, is another living room. It is heated by natural gas hot water radiators and Split air conditioning.
The large outdoor garden surrounding the house lends elegance and tranquility to the entire property, perfect for sharing special moments with family and friends.
Facing south, it has a wonderful porch, centuries-old olive trees, beautiful fountains, wisteria galleries, and a varied array of mature trees (magnolias, palm trees, olive trees, cypresses, and jacarandas).
Outside, there are horse pens, a large kennel with five stalls, a chicken coop, and a vegetable garden.
To complete the setting, the pool, paddle tennis court, and barbecue area, as well as nighttime lighting, offer the opportunity for various complementary activities, ideal for weekend getaways.
